I have had the pleasure and honor of serving on Ann Arbor City Council since November 2008, working with so many residents and colleagues to sustain and improve Ann Arbor. When I first sought your support in 2008 I promised that I would work to:
- Keep City spending within our means
- Align development with Ann Arbor’s character and values
- Invest in our infrastructure
- Safeguard Ann Arbor’s parks & recreation programs
- Support the neediest
- Listen actively and respond to your concerns
As a Councilmember, I have served on a Budget Committee dedicated to reconciling our immediate and long-term needs with efficient, structural spending reductions; led the effort to maintain downtown height limits and balanced zoning boundaries on South University; supported commercial and expanded residential recycling; worked to save the Ann Arbor Senior Center and Mack Pool; and fought to protect and promote the Third Ward’s neighborhoods in the face of dwindling resources. I have striven too to communicate openly with you, the voters, in a manner that does justice to the complexities of the issues before us and which gives you the background necessary to make informed decisions.
If entrusted with your vote in November 2012, I will again apply these principles to the issues facing our City.
We remain a marvelous community and largely have weathered the Great Recession, but our City’s continued vitality is far from certain. We must continue to make fiscally wise choices to sustain the City’s long term assets, and at the same time preserve the unique character of our home.
Look around. Let me know what you think. Thank you for visiting!
